Abstract

The present work investigated the formation of V4AlC3 MAX phase via Mechano-thermal process. Vanadium, Aluminum and Graphite powders were milled by high energy ball mill for 30 hours. After, milled powders were annealed at 700 oC in inert atmosphere. XRD and SEM analysis showed that V4AlC3 max phase successfully synthesized. But it was shown that different phases also were formed at the end of the process not only max phase.
