Abstract

Addiction is one of the most important social deviations that is the basis of many social and social problems at the community level the aim Of this present study was to determine Role of the sense of agency and deviant personality traits in predicting addiction tendency in secondary school students. the study was descriptive-correlational. Population of this study was all male students of a state high school in Pars Abad city in 2017 school year.120 people from this population selected by random-cluster sampling method and response to the addiction potential questionnaire of Zargar and et al(1992),sense of agency scale of Woody and et al(2013) and personality deviant scale of Bedford and et al(1987).The data was analyzed by Pearson’s correlation and multiple regression.The results of correlation coefficients showed that there was a negative and significant relationship between addiction tendency and the components of simplicity (r = -0.22; p = 0/01) and incontinence (r = -0/42, p = -0.01) The components of deviant characteristics of personality were lack of trust (r = 0.40; p = 0/01), dependence (r = 0.38; p = 0.01),and hostile acts (r = 0.35; p = 0.01) Has a positive and significant relationship.The results of multiple regression showed that 37 percent of the total variance of tendency to addiction explained by the sense of agency and deviant personality traits. results of this study showed that the sense of agency and deviant personality traits has the ability to predict the tendency to addiction in teenagers in a meaningful way.
