Abstract

The aim of this study was to determine the role of childhood abuse, emotion regulation, identity styls in predicting of risky behavior and rejection sensitivity in patient with borderline personality disorder. The type of the study was descriptive. The population of the study included all the patients with BPD visiting psychiatric offices and counseling centers and martyrs Persian Gulf Bushehr hospital. Participant selection was done using convenience sampling method. 96 patients with BPD accepted to take part in study. They were assessed by clinical interview. Gathering data tools consist of borderline personality questionnaire (Leichsenring, F; 2011) risky behavior questionnaire (zadehMohammadi, A; 1386) rejection sensitivity questionnaire (Downey & Feldman; 1996) childhood abuse questionnaire (Noorbakhsh, m; 1391) that were completed by participants. The data were analyzed by pearson correlation coefficient and multiple regressions analysis. The results indicate relationship between childhood abuse and emotion regulation and risky behavior and rejection sensitivity in patient with borderline personality disorder. Multiple regressions analysis reveal role of childhood abuse, emotion regulation, identity styls in predicting of risky behavior and rejection sensitivity in patient with borderline personality disorder. This findings suggest that invalidating and unhealthy family environment and biological predispositions may have a developmental role in BPD diagnose and risky behavior and rejection sensitivity in patient with borderline personality disorder.
