Abstract
The present study was designed to study the association of disease stage, fatigue, illness perception, and unmet needs with quality of life and mental adjustment in patients with cancer. Using a correlation and causal-comparative research design, a purposive sample of 120 patients suffering from cancer was recruited. A researcher constructed questionnaire for demographic and clinical information, the quality of life scale for cancer patients, mental adjustment to cancer scale, fatigue from cancer treatment scale, the unmet needs questionnaire, and illness perception scale were used. Data were analyzed using ANOVA, MANOVA and multiple regression analysis. Results revealed that the quality of life of patients differed with their stage of disease, with patients in stage 4 of the disease reporting lower quality of life than patients in other stages. Furthermore, among the psychological features (fatigue, illness perception and unmet needs, fatigue was different in different stages of the disease, with fatigue in stage 4 being more severe than that in other stages. Another finding was that psychological features had the potential to predict the quality of life of patients with cancer, accounting for 11% of the total variance in quality of life. Psychological features also had the potential to predict mental adjustment of patients with cancer, explaining 17% of its variance. Findings indicate the significance of psychological features in degree of adjustment and response to treatment as well as the quality of life in patients with cancer. | Persian Abstract: | پژوهش حاضر با هدف بررسی رابطه مرحله¬ی بیماری، خستگی، ادراک بیماری و نیازهای براورده نشده با کیفیت زندگی و سازگاری ذهنی بیماران مبتلا به سرطان صورت گرفت. روش پژوهش همبستگی و علی – مقایسه-ای بوده است. نمونه پژوهش 120 بیمار مبتلا به سرطان است که به صورت هدفمند انتخاب شده¬اند. در این مطالعه از پرسشنامه¬ی محقق ساخته برای اطلاعات جمعیت شناختی و بالینی، پرسشنامه¬ی کیفیت زندگی مخصوص بیماران مبتلا به سرطان، مقیاس سازگاری ذهنی به سرطان، ابزار اندازه گیری خستگی در درمان سرطان، پرسشنامه¬ی نیازهای برآورده نشده و پرسشنامه ادراک بیماری استفاده شده است. برای تحلیل نتایج از آزمون آنوا، مانوا و رگرسیون چند گانه استفاده گردیده است. نتایج پژوهش نشان داد که کیفیت زندگی بیماران بر اساس مرحله بیماری متفاوت است و کیفیت زندگی در بیمارانی که در مرحله چهارم سرطان قرار دارند پایین¬تر از بیمارانی است که در مراحل دیگر قرار دارند. همچنین نتایج نشان داد که از بین ویژگی¬های روانشناختی (خستگی، ادراک بیماری و نیازهای براورده نشده)، خستگی بر اساس مرحله بیماری متفاوت است، همچنین خستگی در مرحله چهارم شدید تر از دیگر مراحل است. دیگر یافته این است که ویژگی¬های روانشناختی توان پیش بینی کیفیت زندگی بیماران مبتلا به سرطان را دارند و 11 درصد از کل واریانس کیفیت زندگی به وسیله ویژگی¬های روانشناختی تبیین می¬شود. همچنین ویژگی های روانشناختی توان پیش بینی سازگاری ذهنی بیماران مبتلا به سرطان را دارند و 17 درصد از کل واریانس سازگاری ذهنی به وسیله ویژگی¬های روانشناختی تبیین می¬شود. یافته¬های این پژوهش اهمیت ویژگی روانشناختی در میزان سازگاری و پاسخ به درمان و کیفیت زندگی بیماران مبتلا به سرطان را نشان می¬دهد. كليد واژه¬ها: سرطان، کیفیت زندگی، سازگاری ذهنی، مرحله¬ی بیماری، خستگی، ادراک بیماری و نیازهای براورده نشده | ||||
