Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate the role of family function and motivational structure in predicting marital and sexual satisfaction of couples with addiction. The method of this research was descriptive and correlational The method of this research was descriptive and correlational. All married clients who were married to Addiction Treatment Centers in Khorasan Razavi, Darghas city, in the years 2017-2018 were selected by statistical sampling method. Of this, 100 subjects (50 men and 50 women) were selected by available sampling method and selected the research sample formed. Enrich marital satisfaction questionnaire, family function, personal worries or personal appetites and sexual satisfaction were used to collect information. Data were analyzed using Pearson correlation and multiple regression analysis. Results showed that family function and non-adaptive motivational structure had a significant negative correlation with marital satisfaction and sexual satisfaction, and there was a positive and significant correlation between adaptive motivation structure and sexual satisfaction and marital satisfaction. Family function and its subscales were 0.41 of marital satisfaction variance and 0.37 of variance of sexual satisfaction. Also, 0.21 of marital satisfaction variance and 0.15 of sexual satisfaction variance are predicted by its motivational structure and subscales. According to research findings, motivational structure and family functioning can predict the sexual satisfaction and marital satisfaction of couples with addiction. Therefore, by training and enhancing family function and performing interventions related to the motivational structure, sexual satisfaction and marital satisfaction of couples with addiction can be increased.
