Abstract

This study was counducted with the aim of investigation the role of behavioral inhibition system and novelty seeking in predicting the social anxiety and Internet addiction in adults with ADHD symptoms.the The research method is descriptive / correlation type. The statistical population of the study was all students of the University of mohageg in ardabil in 96-95 academic year, and 600 of them were selected by cluster random sampling method. After implementation of the Barclay Adults ADHD Scale (BAARS-IV), 72 subjects On this scale, that they score in T was above 65, were selected as the final sample. The tools of the research was the Barclay's Adults ADHS Scale (BAARS-IV), Young's internet Addiction Questionnaire (1998), Canur's Social Anxiety Scale (2004), Carver & White's Behavioral Inhibition System Scale (1994), and Cluninger and Schwarzkik's novelty seeking scale (1994).for analyzing the data we used Pearson correlation coefficient and linear regression in SPSS software. Finding showed us that there is a positive relationship between behaviral inhibition system and internet addiction (p<0/01) and between behaviral inhibition system an social anxeity (p<0/05) and between novelty seeking and internet addiction (p<0/05) and there is negative relationship between novelty seeking and social anxeity (p<0/05). The results of the regression also apeared that behaviral inhibition system and novelty seeking can predict internet addiction (RS=0/19) and social anxeity (RS=0/10) in adults with ADHD symptoms .this result reffers to reducing internet addiction and social axiety in adults with ADHD symptoms through behaviral inhibition system and novelty seeking.
