Abstract

Mevlana Celaleddin Rumi is one of the personalities in world literary history who spoke about his name with his works. Mevlana's "Mesnevi (Masnavi)" is important both in literature and world cultural heritage in terms of the stories it contains. This Persian manuscript / Masnavi of Rumi, who spent a great part of his life in Anatolia, is accepted as an important work in Turkish and Persian literature within the framework of parable telling tradition. However, the contents of the subjects in the parables also draw attention to the same extent. In addition to its literary character, it has important clues about Turkish and Persian literature and philosophical life with its philosophical nature. In the Turkish and Persian mystic cultures and classical literature, many poets and sufis have been influenced by "Masnavi" and presented "Masnavi" examples in their works. Many of the ideas in this extraordinary work of Mevlana also contributed to mysticism. In Rumi's stories, the stories/parables have important clues about the maturation process of the humans. For those who are on the path to becoming perfect human beings, there are remarkable expressions in every story. Metaphorical narration relation between allegorical stories and life and symbolic values of the examples given in narrative made the work unique and different. Through this work, Celaleddin Rumi communicates messages that must reach human beings through analogies and metaphors. According to Mevlana, person who is in the way of becoming a perfect human being is affected by the nafs in various ways. There are many allegorical stories / parables in the work centered on the concept of nafs. In this study, we will examine through which symbols Celaleddin Rumî express the Nafs concept in Mesnevi and the meaning pattern is presented in allegorical stories through a symbolic perspective. In addition we will also focus on the symbolic language and narrative relationship established in the description of fables (animal stories / parables). In the study, also the elements that are likened to nafs and their nafs relation will be mentioned. In addition, we will try to determine the level of the nafs according to the persons walking on the path of being perfect human being in Mesnevi. Thus, information about the nature of the Nafs will be tried to be reached.
