Abstract

Planthoppers of Infraorder Fulgoromorpha are polyphagus insects that feed on the phloem of roots, torque and stems of herbaceous and sometimes phloem of leaf of woody plants. Many of these planthoppers can seriously damage crops in high population. Gorgan region includes Gorgan and Aq qalla cities of Golestan province is located in northeast of Iran. It has 6 various climates: Arid, Semi arid, Mediterranean, Semi humid, Humid and Ultra humid. In this research the distribution of planthoppers was studied in different climatic regions of Gorgan. The specimens were collected from 17 sites with different climatic condition during years 2008 and 2009 in different seasons. In addition planthoppers that had been previously collected from Golestan and some of them were deposited in the museum of Hayk Myrzayans were studied as well. All specimens were recognized in 9 families, 26 genera and 36 species: Family Caliscelidae: Ommatidiotus dissimilis Family Cixiidae: Pentastria major, Reptalus barajus, Reptalus bitinctus, Tachycixius desertorum, Tachycixius sp., Reptalus lindbergi, Cixius rufus, Hyalesthes mlokosiewiezi, Cixius adornatus iranicus, Hyalesthes obsoletus, Cixius pallipes, Oliarus fulvus* Family Derbidae: Malenia sp.* Family Delphacidae: Asirica clavicornis, Chloriona clavata, Metadelphax propinqua, Falctoya minuscula, Gravesteiniella boldi, Stenocranus major, Laodelphax striatellus, Javesella sp*., Kelisia praecox*, Muirudelphax aubei*, Sogatella frucifera*, Sogatella vibix*, Eurybregma nigrolineata*, Ribautodelphax hyrcanus Family Dictyopharidae: Dictyophara europaea, Dictyophara exoptata Family Issidae: Scorlupella montana ,Mycterodus krameri* Family Nogodinidae: Morsina persica Family Tettigometridae: Tettigometra sulphurea*, Tettigometra virescens*, Tettigometra costulata* Family Tropiduchidae: Trypetimorpha fenestrata According to available literature, 12 species with * have not been recorded from Golestan province and species Sogatella frucifera, Eurybregma nigrolineata, Tettigometra virescens were new records for Iran. The distriboution maps of the collected species were delineated by Arc GIS 9.2 software.
