Abstract

The aim of this study was to analyze the role of behavioral avoidance in predicting the depression symptoms in patients suffering social phobia disorder. for this purpose, 30 social phobia patients were studied. In the present study, Clinical interview, Social Phobia Inventory, Beck Depression Inventory, and Liebowitz Social Anxiety Scale were employed to gather the required data. For data analysis, not only descriptive statistics, but also Pierson correlation coefficient and regression analysis methods were used considering the entrance approach. According to the results, there is positive relation between the variables of depression, social phobia and behavioral avoidance. In addition, result showed that behavioral avoidance has a meaningful role in predicting the variation associated whit the depression symptoms in the patients suffering social phobia. This findings can be significant in treating social phobia disorder.
