Abstract

Lilium with having a high level of economic potential, not only has great importance among horticultural and ornamental products around the world but also has been dedicated the fourth place among the flowers. The present research was conducted under completely randomized design with five levels of chitosan treatment includes (0, 50, 100, 150 and 200 ppm) respectively, at 10 different replications to investigate the effect of chitosan on some in-vitro growth indices of three Lilium species. In this aim firstly after the preparation and sterilization of the three different lilies bulb includes (L. regale, L. ledebourii, L. dandie), the explants were cultured in media which been treated by chitosan. Statistical analysis was showed that the effect of species and different concentrations of chitosan on fresh weight was significant at 5% probability level and the highest fresh weight was related to the regale species at a concentration of 200 mg/L. Also, the analysis variance of seedling height data didn’t show significant interactions between species and chitosan, while their main effects were significant at the 5% probability level, and among the species, the highest height was measured in the seedlings of the regale species and also the highest number of leaves was measured in dandie species at the treatment level of 150 ppm.
