Abstract

Sources and methods of iron-containing fertilizers application plays an important role in fertilizer use efficiency and quality of products. In this study, the effect of priming, soil and foliar application, and integrated application of three methods on Chlorophyll content and wheat growth characteristics was investigated in greenhouse condition in a completely randomized design. Treatments were control, two source of iron fertilizers, i.e. nano iron oxide and iron sulfate, in 14 treatments. Analysis of variance showed that integrated application of iron fertilizer as priming, soil and foliar increased chlorophyll a, b and ab content, plant height, dry and wet weight of root and shoot in comparison to control. Mean Comparison showed that in most cases priming treatment and integrated soil and foliar application of iron nano Oxide and Iron sulfate had the better effect. In this study, seed priming with iron fertilizers significantly increased studied characteristics in comparison to control. This is important in calcareous soils having low amount of plant available iron.
