Abstract

This experiment was designed to study the effect of different levels of processing Amaranth grain (Amaranthus hybridus) on egg quality and biochemical some parameters of laying hens. Total of 96 Hy-Line W-36 laying hens (67-weeks-old) were divided into four groups with six replicates per group (four birds per replicate) and fed one of the four experimental diets. The duration of the experiment was 6 weeks and Standard conditions and formulation of diets were determined according to the Hy-Line catalog of W-36 requirements. experimental treatments consisted of four levels of processing amaranth grain (0, 5, 10 and 15%) respectively. The results showed that cholesterol and triglyceride of blood were significantly affected by feeding processing amaranth grain compared to the control (P <0.05). The use of processing amaranth in laying hens diet was similar and close to the control group on egg index, shell percentage, shell weight and shell thickness (P> 0.05). In conclusion, showed that the intake of processing amaranth, without affecting the egg quality parameters, can reduce blood triglyceride and cholesterol and improvment laying bird health. Thus, amaranth could recommend in the future, as a valuable feed and supplementation for laying birds.
