Abstract

In order to evaluate and compare the seed and oil yield and yield components of in 24 pure cultivars and lines of sesame (Sesamum indicum L.) in Moghan region, a complete block design was conducted with 3 replications in Moghan region in 2017. The experiment was performed using 23 superior pure lines selected from F6 generations in different regions of Iran and local Oltan control. Results showed that stem diameter, 1000-seed weight and number of seeds per capsule were significant at 5% probability level and seed yield and percent and seed oil yield at 1% probability level. Lines 12 had the highest 1000-grain weight, grain yield, number of seeds per capsule and seed oil yield, and Lines 7 were in the same and superior group. Line No. 10 also had the least amount of these traits. Line 12 had a 57% higher yield compared to Oltan control, which is a significant figure and could be very important in selecting this cultivar for cultivation in the area. It is recommended for planting in the area.
