Abstract

Pollination is one of the most important services in the agricultural sector that determines the real value and the factors that can play an important role in agricultural management and development. In this paper, the economic value of pollination function of Shahdej National Park of Kiasar in northern Iran is considered. In this study, the production function approach and direct market valuation method were used to determine the economic value of the pollination function of the Shahdej National Park, which included agricultural, horticultural and livestock products growing services. The results of this study showed that the value of insect pollinators in increasing agricultural products (agricultural, horticulture and livestock) in Shahedji National Park in 2014 was 21.45, 17.23 and 1.046 billion Rials, respectively. Based on the total value of pollinators in increasing agricultural yields, the total economic value of the pollinator function of the Shaheed Kaiser National Park in 2014 was estimated 39.626 billion Rials and the value of each hectare was 4169579 Rials. The results showed that the role of pollinators in agricultural growth was much greater than that of livestock products because they had a greater share of the total economic value of the pollination function of the Shaheed Kaiser National Park.
