Abstract

The importance of agriculture and its role in economic development, as it is one of the fundamental pillars of development in developing countries has made. To achieve agricultural development in developing countries, where change and modernization is inevitable. One set of changes in the agricultural system and move towards sustainable renewable resources, determining optimal cropping pattern according to facilities, resources and constraints of each region. So determining the optimal planting program is one of the key issues in agricultural production. So determining the optimal planting program is one of the key issues in agricultural production. It would be most beneficial, at least cost, minimum water consumption, minimal use of pesticides and chemical fertilizers, and so on, due to the limitations and conditions, the beneficiary. The main objective of this study is to provide and use a multi-objective fractional programming model for determining optimal cropping pattern in Saran County, in order to achieve economic and environmental objectives simultaneously farmer. The required data were collected from statistical yearbook of East Azarbaijan agriculture organization. The results indicated profit that obtain from fractional programming model be less than current situation’s income but some sustainability goals such as reducing the use of chemical and water inputs was achieved with considering the negative effects of the current unstable situation and a lot of indirect costs on society, environment and agriculture it would be justifiable.
