Abstract

Many improvements of poultry industry in the world especially in Tropical and subtropical regions induced the researcher to attended the heat stress problem. The concerns of poultry breeders during hot season are reducing feed intake, growth rate, feed efficiency and carcass quality in these regions. In this experiment the effects of propolis powder on broiler performance under heat stress condition was assessed. A total of 120 one-day-old Ross 308 chicks were randomly divided into 3 treatments consisting of 10 birds of 4 replicates in a completely randomized design. The dietary treatments consist of basal diet as control (0 mg/kg propolis), 150 mg/kg propolis and 200 mg/kg propolis that added to the basal diet. The results showed that the highest body weight was detected in 200 mg/kg propolis treatment (P<0.05). There was no significant difference between treatments in feed intake (P>0.05). The diet contained 200 mg/kg propolis was lowest feed conversion ratio among treatments (P<0.05). But there was no significant difference between first and second treatments in this parameter.
