Abstract

As a consistent and influential ideology and school of thought, nationalism permeated among the Arab world right by the time that the third world countries, especially the Middle East, were exploited by the Westerners, and, consequently, a great number of Arab thinkers, poets and writers converted to nationalism. According to the importance of the problem of Palestine in the Arab World, the Arab poetry has been allocated to Palestine. Mahmood Darvish, as a well-known poet, has played a notable role in between. Among different Arab poets, he has paid a significant consideration to varying affairs in his country. This is because Darvish has lived a long life among the events and predicaments in the Palestine and presently witnessed the Arab identity has been getting deescalated. Under the influence of political events in the Arab states, his poetry received nationalistic falvour. There are a few poets like Darvish whose poetry is mingled with the experience of Intifada and Resistance and the entirety of his ontology is centered around and dedicated to the Palestine. For this reason, his poetry is categorised as a national poetry. Mahmood Darvish's critical orientation enabled him to cast deeper perspectives towards poetry, life, battle and human being. It can be dared to state that the factors of nationalism are the most important motifs and themes of Mahmood's poetry. Be it as a matter, the present thesis pivots about to examine such elements in his poems.
