Abstract

This Writing Examines Regional Cooperation and Regional Intergration Capacities Iran and Russia in Central Asia. The main Priority of Irans Foreign Policy is Strengthening Cooperation and Constructive engagement With Peripheral Regions and Political and Cultural Geography. Iran and Russia also in their periphery face a number of sub-systems, such as Central Asia and the Caucasus, that in these areas proper understanding of the challenges and opportunities existing between the two countries can lead to a dynamic foreign policy, which would ensure the national interests of both countries and provide the areas for their convergence in the region. This research, using the theoretical framework of convergence and regionalism, seeks to answer the question of what are the grounds and capacities for regional cooperation and convergence between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Russia in Central Asia? In response to this question, this hypothesis has been raised that the use of the political, economic, and cultural capacities of Central Asia can increase cooperation and convergence between Iran and Russia.This research uses a descriptive-analytical method looking for a review the components of convergence between Iran-Russia in Central Asia and in this regard, to study the most important factors of convergence and divergence and identifies the challenges and opportunities of the foreign policy of Iran and Russia in the Central Asian region separately. In the end, it concludes that the establishment of peace, political stability, and the crisis control and ethnic conflicts in the republics of the region, the preventing political, economic and other influences of foreign powers, the prevention of the illicit trafficking of drugs and weapons, the economic and cultural benefits, and political factors it is a factor of convergence between the two countries.
