Abstract

Among architectural spaces, nowhere is as important as the medical health centers. Architectural spaces in health centers affect the mental state of the children. A poor design of these environments can exacerbate behavioral disturbances and anxiety. Today, functionality is a major part of design thinking, so that attention to environmental qualities and its significant effects on the treatment process of patients and lessening of anxiety plays a lesser role. The purpose of this research is to change the designer's perspective in designing and reviewing and presenting solutions to the design of green spaces in health centers in order to be effective in improving the environment of the hospital, thereby accelerating the process of improving patient’s recovery and reducing their anxiety. The required information was collected through questionnaires among male and female children who have experienced the hospital environment. Data were analyzed using Spss software and Cronbach's alpha tests, the Kolmogorov–Smirnov test and the T-test. The results indicate that what should be considered in the design of health care settings is that a hospital has be able to provide favorable conditions for patients who are in an inappropriate psychological state with fear and anxiety. The impact of green space in harmony with other architectural spaces plays a key role for children's hospitals in creating a more desirable environment and has a significant role in reducing the anxiety and mental health of children.
