Abstract

Travel is a word for history. Since the time of mankind, human beings have been continuously moving and traveling for various reasons. Of course, it should be noted that such relocations and travels are very different from what is being called tourism today. The motivation, means, combination, time, place and effects of travel have changed over the time. According to the definitions of WTO World Tourism Organization, one of the goals that can inspire a traveler is going to travel for the purpose of health tourism. One of the many types of health tourism is medical tourism. In this research, barriers to the development of medical tourism in Gilan province have been identified, prioritized and ranked. Using library resources and reviewing the theories in the field of health tourism, development and medical tourism, appropriate questionnaires were prepared and included among staff of the Cultural Heritage Organization and health tourism experts such as physicians and board members Scientific college of medical sciences and educated employees in the treatment department. The data were analyzed using Lisrel software and economic barriers, human resource barriers, language barriers and communication, barriers to policy making and barriers to information and marketing system as the most important barriers to health tourism development in Guilan province has been identified and solutions presented for removing obstacles.
